Identify the source of your exhaust noise

Before accusing your exhaust pipe, remember that it is only the end of an entire exhaust system composed of several elements. Noise can therefore have another source; in this situation, pay attention to the type of noise nuisance that comes out of your exhaust pipe.

I hear a whistling

Generally, a whistling exhaust pipe means that a leak is present. In the majority of cases, this comes from an exhaust gas or air leak. The pressure caused by the expulsion of gases or air creates this whistling. We advise you to check (or ask your mechanic) that all the elements of the exhaust system are present, sealed together and tightly secured.

If your vehicle has traces of rust, or has recently undergone an abnormal shock, it is possible that this may cause a hissing. In this case, directly consult a mechanic who will be able to detect the rust or the consequences of the shock.

I hear a 'click'

In some situations, having an exhaust pipe that clicks often precedes the whistling. The causes can therefore be the same.

When you notice that your muffler slams in neutral, cornering or on hills, the best thing is to consult a professional.

I feel abnormal vibrations
